Nahoon Dam was built in 1935 to serve the growing city of East London. Located near the scenic Nahoon River valley, the dam has been a vital water source for the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality. The dam underwent major rehabilitation in 2005 to meet modern safety standards while preserving its historic character.

From East London CBD, take the R102 towards Nahoon. Turn left onto Nahoon Valley Road and follow signs to the nature reserve entrance. The dam is approximately 8km from the city center.
